This module controls the optical power precisely to maintain the desired output level set by the user by automatically correcting for power drift or fluctuation.This slot module provides high-performance power control features such as high attenuation range, accurate tolerance, stable spectral flatness and low insertion loss in the wavelength range of 1260 ~ 1600 nm. It also offers a particularity that the high-speed drive of attenuation is possible through the combination of high-speed FPGA processor and high speed response time (within 1 ms) VOA. Bench top ASE broadband source system with built-in ASE source module has particularities that it can be operated easily and enables its output spectral feature changed variously by controlling pump LDs inside the module. The output of ASE source can be set to the customized feature by controlling the output power of embedded pump LD individually through the provided program. In case optimum ASE output features such as wide broadband (>80nm@-10dBm/nm) and stable output power (<0.02dB) is needed, it is made up so that the provided Default mode along with User mode can be chosen and set up. Through the micro processor and FPGA inside, more stable application is possible by combining the real-time monitoring of output power and pump LD status with the high speed feedback routine.

This accurate instrument, which is based on an internal tunable filter, acts as an optical spectrum analyzer or a wavelength meter as well as a low insertion loss tunable filter. The built-in tunable filter of the module is precisely tuned in C-band and L-band optical communication window by using both electronic and optical controlling methods. User can choose the function of this module depending on his or her applications.

The frame of FOTS system consists of the Main control part and the Slot mounting part. The Main control part is in charge of control and interface of the system and the Slot mounting part can hold up to maximum 8 slots, which are modularized according to each function and come out in five kinds. This integrated test system is designed to help manage the test and measurement related to optical communication and component. And the modular architecture of FOTS allows for customized configuration so that the slot of LD Driver, 2 channel VOA, 1 X 4 switch, WDM EDFA and C + L – Band ASE Source can be chosen according to user’s necessities. Main control part and each function module are run by effective and multi-functioned system control program in the base of high speed remote interface, GUI display and the discriminative high speed driving of module and system. This system can provide variety manufacturing and laboratory applications such as general quality test and reliability test of optical component and optical signal transmission test through efficient linkage with other system.

LD Driver slot module of FOTS system is an efficient module that is user centered, which can drive various kinds of laser diode for the use of optical signal transmission or light source. The module has a built in LD socket, in which LD of 14 pin butterfly type is installed, which makes it possible for the user to change the LD he or she wants to drive when needed. It is leaded to get rid of the inefficiency of expense, at which various types of expensive united source module needed are purchased. By operating monitoring PD and high-performance processor that are installed inside the module, the output power and temperature of LD can be driven accurately and stably. The laser diodes can be modulated internally in square, sinusoidal, and triangular waves and its output power and temperature can also be maintained the level set by the user. In order to realize the various functions, the efficient and multi-functioned control programs with high speed processor, LCD monitor or GUI for remote control are available.

16CH WDM Mux/DeMux module of FOTS system offers a function of multiplexing or demultiplexing up to 16 channel of WDM signals. This module offers low insertion loss, low crosstalk, and high temperature stability. An internally built-in AWG module functions as 1 X N optical Multi/Demultiplexers. The bi-directional feature of this module is ideal for wide range of applications. In combination with an optionally built-in circulator or C/L-band WDM coupler, this module can be applied to the WDM-PON test. User can easily make his or her test set-ups for FTTX-PON systems, especially for WDM-PON test, by combining this module with other FOTS modules such as SLED Driver, SOA Driver, C+L-FOTS modules such as SLED Driver, SOA Driver, C+L-band ASE source, Wavelingth meter, Transceiver Driver and so on.
