AC Fuel Flow Signal Generator
TA-100
The TA-100 signal generator was designed to facilitate testing of aircraft fuel flow indicators that require two input signals designated as “Drum” and “Impeller”. This generator provides both signals so as to provide a direct interface to the fuel flow indicator under test. The generator also provides switched power out to the unit under test as well as a 5v source for testing the bezel lighting. The original design was built around the requirements for the AMETEK series indicators (pn: 10171 series). This generator simulates a reference and a time delayed signal of appropriate amplitude for an indication of up to 1200pph for the indicator under test. The “PPH Select” switch provides fixed signal delays representing 0, 200, 400, 800, 1000 and 1200pph flow rates respectively, this provides the mechanic with an expedient check of the indicators accuracy. The “PPH Adjust” control allows the mechanic to vary the signal delay throughout the full range and serves as a good method for checking of pointer smoothness from stop to stop. The unit’s front panel also provides test jacks to monitor the “FDR Output” as well as the drum and impeller signals. The TA-100 requires only 28Vdc to operate. This generator provides a very economical approach to any repair facility or flight department as it becomes an alternative to purchasing two bench top signal generators. The TA-100 generator at the very least can provide a simple functional test and eliminate the high cost of exchanging an indicator as a function of troubleshooting the aircraft system.

Furnaces
These three zone resistance wire wound furnaces are of split construction to facilitate fast and easy loading of a pre-assembled specimen train. The case is constructed from stainless steel with aluminium and hardened insulation board end plates. The optional front cut-out allows the use of side-entry high-temperature extensometry. Adjustable stainless steel latches keep the furnace halves locked together during use, but are then easily opened once testing is complete. The furnace is available with optional heavy duty brackets or mountings, which attach to a wide range of testing systems. An extensive range of standard controllers is available to suit most test regimes. Custom variants can be specified should the standard range not include a suitable unit.

A digital display is included. The scanning beam is always perpendicular to the specimen, unlike most laser extensometers. This eliminates errors when viewing through windows in chambers. The Model 3560BIA uses a design unique to Epsilon, where the knife edges remain parallel during the displacement. This approach greatly reduces crosstalk between axes and allows use on round or flat specimens with equal ease. These extensometers are very easy to mount. Integral springs hold the unit on the test sample. The parallel multiple flexure design makes these units very durable.The Model 3560AVG reads axial strain only as a single averaged output. It may also be supplied with two independent outputs, one measurement from each side of the specimen. This set-up is most commonly required when an indication of specimen bending is desired. The second version, the Model 3560BIA, includes both the averaged axial strain and the transverse strain. Again, this may also be configured as dual independent axial readings, which results in a three channel extensometer.The Model 3560 extensometers are strain gaged devices, making them compatible with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers. Most often they are connected to a test machine controller. The signal conditioning electronics for the extensometer is typically included with the test machine controller or may often be added. In this case the extensometer is shipped with the proper connector and wiring to plug directly into the electronics. For systems lacking the required electronics, Epsilon can provide a variety of solutions, allowing the extensometer output to be connected to data acquisition boards, chart recorders or other equipment.
