Adaptive Target Recognition System

ISTI’s adaptive target recognition, detection and classification system for sonar imagery can learn in-situ from expert operators’ feedback in order to yield better accuracy and flexibility in making decisions in new environmental and operating conditions. Side Scan Sonar for Gavia AUV
Several brands of Side Scan Sonars (SSS) can be installed on the Gavia in the control and communication module. Available frequencies range from 600 kHz to 1.8 MHz in both single and dual frequencies The SSS accumulates data at a rate of up to 40 megabytes per 1000 meters. A 16-gigabyte flash disk is provided standard for storage of SSS data, with larger disks available optionally.

Sonar
Piezo elements are used in military and commercial sonar systems for position finding activities. Location of surface and subsurface vessels, depth measurement, surveying, fish location, and communication are several of the more common sonar applications. Piezoelectric ceramic materials have high bandwidth and can quickly respond by applying high force at low power levels. These materials are generally unaffected by environmental factors such as humidity and temperature. CTS materials can be formed to customer specifications and are available in a wide range of geometries with dimensions up to 150 mm or thicknesses less than 100 microns.
